All of us have friends who are so wonderful and friendly. We are overjoyed just to be nearby, and dread the time of parting. To list their attributes, or to describe all the great qualities embodied therein, would be a task insurmountable.
Then there are the other folks you know, and dread the unavoidable encounter! Perhaps only because I may be a member of this latter group, but I have long made it a practice to look closely into such a person's life and, as a kind of mystery/puzzle/game, I ask myself this question: "What does God love about ________?" Not, "How can God stand ______?", or "What can God POSSIBLY see in ________?" and certainly not, "DOES God even actually love _________?"My premise that God does love even "______" is deliberate. He does. And He knows why (or how). But as Proverbs 25:2 tells us that "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings", my little game lets me play King while I seek for the clues that are sometimes so well hidden in a burdened heart.
My plan then for the A to Z challenge is to take a name each day from the Encyclopedia of World Biography, and attempt to describe at least some of the reasons that I suspect are behind God's great love for the person selected. Some will be folks we have all loved and admired. Others are better known as those we love to hate (Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi just happens to be the only "Q" name listed folks).
It is unlikely that someone listed in my alphabetical source of names will be reading this blog, but the rest of us should rest assured that, for some reason, God loves us too!
